Save Kabuum Grey Back Gorilla

By Fon Christopher Achobang
Save Kabuum Grey Back Gorilla

A grey back gorilla has strayed from its colony into herds of sheep and goat on the Oshie Ridge, Momo Division, North West Cameroon.

This area hosts the Kagwene Gorilla Sanctuary with over 20 members of the endangered species which number just 300 members globally.

Wildlife Conservation Society co-runs the Kagwene Gorilla Sanctuary with Cameroon Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife, MINFOF.

Some local hunters have been invited by the communities of Tonkop, Tuebeng and Mbenghang to come to their rescue and shoot the terrorizing Kabuum.

This lone Kabuum is accused of killing and eating goats.

Weighing close to 350 KG, Kabuum and its community are known to be herbivorous. I am still to know a case of carnivorous gorillas.

WCS could heighten its scouting in this area for Kabuum. They could sedate and take it to Kagwene Gorilla Sanctuary before it is killed.

Natives around this area do not always kill gorillas believing the souls of their ancestors inhabit them.

Do not allow this one suspect member of this endangered family to be killed without a fair trial in a human pot.

You may contact me to be escorted to the area of the Oshie Ridge where Kabuum nests and is alleged to be marauding.
