Vodafone Ghana has launched four new tariff plans dubbed Red Life Weekly, Red Rush, Red Hot and Red Classic to give various categories of customers value for money.
All four come in the form of limited bundles, which include specific amounts of on-net, off-net and international call voice minutes, SMSs, and data package, plus other side attractions designed to give customers “great” experience on Vodafone. All four plans can be found at *200#.
The only weekly package among the four, Red Life Weekly, require customers to pay GHC5 for a week and get 300 minutes for on-net calls (Vodafone to Vodafone), 30 minutes for off-net calls (Vodafone to other local networks), five minutes for calls to fixed lines in UK, US and Canada, 100MB of browsing allowance and 100 SMSs to local networks only.
The other three are monthly packages. Customers interested in Red Rush would pay GHC20 and they would have 30 days to consume 1,000 minutes for on-net calls, 130 minutes for off-net, 15 minutes for US, Canada and UK fixed lines, 400MB of data and 100 SMSs.
Red Hot costs GHC50, and for 30 days the customers would have 2,000 on-net minutes, 300 off-net, 50 minutes for US, Canada and UK fixed lines, 1GB of data and 200 SMSs.
Red Classic, which is also described as the VIP package, cost GHC100 for 30 days. It offers 5,000 on-net minutes, 700 off-net minutes, 100 minutes for US, Canada and UK fixed lines, 2.5GB data for browsing, streaming and download and 200 SMSs.
Vodafone Ghana CEO, Haris Broumidis said customers on any of the Red packages would also qualify for VIP treatment at all Vodafone Shops and call centres across the country, plus free browsing at all Vodafone internet cafes; and they would also be given preferential treatment when they call the Vodafone Customer Service line.
“We are also giving our Red customers great customer experience by giving them the opportunity to win tickets to all Vodafone Ghana events, beginning with the upcoming 020 Live Concert on December 14, 2013,” he said.
Broumidis said beyond giving customers value for money and great experience on the network, the Vodafone Red Package was also designed to relieve Ghanaians of the stress of having multiple SIM cards and using different SIM cards for different purposes.
He noted that within each of the Red packages are dedicated minutes for on-net, off-net and international calls, plus internet and SMS opportunities, to enable customers have value for money on one network, no matter what they are using their phone for.
“This is why I believe 'Red' is the most affordable solution on the market right now not only in terms of the price but also in terms of the experience,” he said.
Broumidis assured customers that Vodafone is committed to surmounting the network quality challenges largely due to cable/fibre cuts and theft and provide the highest quality of network service tom back the Red package.
Even though network quality is generally poor in Ghana, evidence from the industry regulator, National Communication Authority (NCA), indicates Vodafone currently has the best quality network in the country, and Broumidis said there is a dedicated investment plan in place to improve the quality further.
Meanwhile the Red packages are being touted as Broumidis' way of announcing his presence officially to customers since he took over from Kyle Whitehill in June this year. This package comes amidst numerous tariff promotions from competition. There are Airtel's Talk Chao, Glo's Bounce, Tigo's Free Bonto and MTN's Ntosuo. But Vodafone's Red seems to tower above all the others.
