As part of its mission of championing youth development and empowering the youth, Youth Alliance has offered a free entrepreneurship training for some 150 young people in the Adansi South District and the Obuasi Municipality this September, 2013. The event which brought together apprentices, students, galamseyers, youth clubs among others offered free business and counseling in areas including business start-up, management, marketing, finance, branding and customer care. The idea behind the event was to create a platform to encourage creativity, innovation, critical thinking, problem solving and at the same time encourage the youth to prepare for success in the world of business and entrepreneurship. In addition the event was solely to provide a quality alternative source of livelihood for the youth in the community in the wake of high incidence of joblessness, crime and other social vices after the clamp down in galamsey activities in the country. The Edubiase programme which was held on the 11th was on the theme: Promoting Entrepreneurship among the youth; an ingredient for a sound economy in Edubiase whilst the Obuasi event was held on the 23rd with the theme; Economic life in Obuasi after mining; promoting entrepreneurship among the youth.
Speakers for the seminar were carefully selected from diverse backgrounds and brought on board their experiences to meet the overall goal of the seminar.
Speakers included Richard Kojo Ellimah from the Center for Social Impact Studies, Mr. Abubakar Sadick, an administrator from PMT group of companies, Charles Wundengba, a youth activist, Ernest Arthur Obeng from CERN Consult and Eric Bentil, a Psychologist.
It is also part of our efforts to nurture, groom and develop the youth to become well meaning leaders in the future. As a young NGO with an eye for youth development in the Adansi traditional area, we regularly provide educational outreach to schools, radio talk show programmes on Shaft FM dubbed 'Youth Platform' which is aired every Saturday between 2pm to 3:30pm as well as counseling the youth especially students on career and personal development issues. We focus efforts on youth education, sanitation and health, environment, advocacy and finding alternative ways to interest young people in bridging the widening poverty and unemployment gaps in our societies.
