Delve Into Backgrounds Of Leaders For Good Governance - UDSP Urges Electorates

By Kobby Asmah - Daily Graphic

The Founder and leader of the Unity Development System Party, WO 1 Richard Nixon Tetteh (rtd), has encouraged Ghanaians to delve into the background of those they vote for to be in charge of the governance of the country.

He said it was imperative for Ghanaians to be mindful of the calibre of persons they voted into public office and for that matter hold and control the destiny and fate of the over 23 million Ghanaians.

WO 1 Tetteh was having an interaction with the Daily Graphic in Accra after touring the Central and Western Regions over the Easter period.

‘Look at what is happening in the governance of the nation and in our every day political discourse,” WO 1 Tetteh pointed out and cited greed, corruption and politics of insults as the order of the day.

He said that the nation would have no benefit if political leaders showed such indifference to the proper wellbeing of the nation and allowed politics of insults to be the hallmark instead of bread and butter issues.

He said it was time political leaders showed respect and courtesy to one another, adding that this was the only way their followers would learn, emulate and behave well.

“My coming into politics is to serve the nation and show leadership by example in all my endeavours,” he stated.

According to WO 1 Tetteh, his tour to a number of regions revealed that many Ghanaians were fed up with the duo-politics of the NDC and the NPP and were ready to vote for a credible alternative political party.

He said that the UDSP was working hard to meet the expectations of the Ghanaian electorates and would intensify its door to door campaign with pragmatic messages to win the hearts and minds of the electorate come the December polls.

He hinted that the UDSP planned to go to Congress in May to endorse its presidential candidate.

He said the challenges facing the UDSP was to work hard to overcome the threats posed by the so-called big parties and let Ghanaians buy into the vision and mission of the UDSP as a formidable alternative.

“We will be very active. I am very experienced and I can assure you that we will make an impact in the 2012 elections,” he pledged.

He had this special message for Ghanaians: “We need peace, economic stability, effective security and we should not be tribalistic.”

He promised that Ghana would be very prosperous when the people adopted by these virtues.
