Following the circulation of the video, the Ashanti Regional Police Command arrested the 39-year-old teacher on June 8.
According to the police, preliminary investigations established that the suspect, who serves as a caretaker of the school's hostel, confronted the student and some male students over alleged misconduct at the hostel.
Police said a misunderstanding ensued during the confrontation, leading to the assault of the student.
The incident reportedly angered some students, who pelted stones at the teacher and invited some youth from the town to the school in an attempt to attack him before police intervened to restore calm.
A medical report form was subsequently issued to the victim, while the suspect was detained to assist with investigations.
During the hearing on Wednesday, June 10, the court encouraged both parties and their families to resolve the issue through reconciliation and an out-of-court settlement, reports MyJoyonline.
