Gomoa Ajumako, Jan. 25, GNA - The Omanhene of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, Obrempon Nyanfu Krampah XI, has appealed to the government to involve traditional rulers in the selection of appointees to the District Assemblies.

This, he said, would not only fulfill constitutional requirement for government to appoint 30 per cent of members of the Assemblies in consultation with the traditional authorities, but would also make the chiefs to know the people who represented them in the Assemblies.

The Omanhene made the appeal at Gomoa Ajumako when the Gomoa East District Assembly presented a quantity of building materials to the traditional council for the rehabilitation of the paramountcy.

The materials estimated at GH¢6,725, included 250 bags of cement, scantlings, plywood, paints, stones and sand.

They were donated to support the traditional council in getting the seat of the paramountcy ready for the funeral of Okatakyi Nyanful Krampah IX, whose sudden death occurred in February last year.

Obrempon Krampah said as at now many of the chiefs, including himself, did not know the person who represented the traditional council at the Assembly for them to channel their problems.

Mr. Isaac Kingsely Ahunu Armah, District Chief Executive, and Prince Charles Abbam, Presiding Member, who jointly made the presentation to the chiefs assured them of the assembly's participation in the funeral which starts from January 28-31.

Mr. Thomas Kweku Aubyn, spokesman for the council, thanked the assembly for the gesture and assured them of the support and cooperation of chiefs in the development of the district.
