A Ghanaian evacuee from South Africa tragically passed away shortly after arriving at Accra International Airport on Friday evening, August 14, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed.
The evacuee was part of a group of 50 Ghanaians who landed at 5:50 pm aboard an Air Tanzania flight. According to accounts from passengers, his condition began deteriorating about 30 minutes before touchdown.
A medical emergency team on standby rushed to attend to him upon arrival, but despite urgent intervention, he was pronounced dead at 6:55 pm.
The Ministry says it is in the process of formally notifying the family of the deceased.
