Pray for GoldBod — Duncan‑Williams Says Powerful Interests Are Blocking Reforms

Archbishop Nicholas Duncan‑Williams has urged Ghanaians to lift the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) in prayer, warning that the institution is confronting resistance from what he describes as a “very powerful movement” deeply entrenched in the gold trade.

Speaking during a church service on Sunday, August 16, 2026, the Founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International said the group comprises well‑established actors who previously accessed gold through illegal channels and are now pushing back against efforts to regulate the sector.

“It is very clear to me that the GoldBod is dealing with a very powerful movement,” he told the congregation, expressing concern about the forces resisting lawful oversight of Ghana’s gold industry.

The Archbishop cautioned that Ghana’s longstanding failure to enforce mining laws — especially in the fight against galamsey — poses grave risks for the nation’s future. He lamented the destruction of rivers, farmlands, and ecosystems, warning that the consequences will be borne by generations yet unborn.

“In the name of politics, we are destroying the future of our children and our grandchildren,” he said, urging Christians to intercede for the nation and pray for divine protection over Ghana’s natural resources.

Archbishop Duncan‑Williams called for sustained prayer for GoldBod and for national leaders, stressing that without decisive action and spiritual vigilance, Ghana risks losing both its environmental heritage and economic stability.
