Rawlings is out of order

Feature Article Rawlings is out of order
SAT, 17 JAN 2009 5

Comments made by former Presidents Rawlings about certain decisions taken by President Mills are shocking, unacceptable and condemnable. He sought to undermine the Presidency, the Constitution and the citizenry.

For Ex-President Rawlings to call for the dismissal of all government officials appointed by the previous administration is tantamount to injustice and an insult to the integrity of Ghanaians. His reckless remarks is potentially dangerous and do not encourage unity, peace and development.

These are dangerous and divisive comments and all Ghanaians must stand up and condemn Rawlings out rightly.

I am by this statement demanding an immediate rebuttal from the Office of the President indicating their position on Rawlings' unacceptable comment.

The electorate voted for Professor Mills and require of him to handle all issues of National concern in the interest of all Ghanaians as he indicated in his victory speech.

President Mills must come clear on this issue, stay firm and work in the interest of the citizens.

I also call on all the political parties, the clergy, civil society and all Ghanaians to condemn in no uncertain terms any attempt by any Ghanaian to unmake our hard fought democracy and rule of law

On this and under the prevailing circumstance, I do not think it will be in the interest of MCE's and DCE's to continue to remain at post as directed by the President. I believe it is now time for all MCE's and DCE's to resign from the their jobs as recent events of unnecessary dismissals, suspentions and victimisation of some government appointees appointed by the previous Kufour administration are clear evidence that the decision to retain the MCE's and DCE's for a brief period is for Political expediency.

Finally, Ghanaians must rise up and demand a running administration and not these ad-hoc measures by the government which is struggling to assemble a cabinet.

The danger that faces Ghana´s democracy is Rawlings. He is at the moment planning to eliminate Ata Mills but his wicked intention is to carry out his plan in such a way that Ghanaians would believe the crime was perpetrated by the NPP. He will possibly carry out his plan in the Ashanti Region when the President is there for an occasion. The danger to Prof. Mills therefore is his own Rawlings; "aboa bi beka wo a efi wo ntoma mu" Prof, I told you so. Rawlings is not a man to share power with.
