Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL) has concluded a service agreement with Sino Hydro Energy of China, builders of the Bui Dam Project, for the supply of fuel and other petroleum products required for the construction of Ghana's third hydropower generation plant.
The deal was sealed in an agreement signed in Accra by Mr Yaw Agyemang-Duah, Managing Director of GOIL and Mr Yang Yixin, Executive Project Manager of Sino Hydro Energy.
The 400 Megawatt Bui Dam Project, to be completed in 2012 ,involves the construction of a roller compacted concrete (RCC) dam volume of about one million cubic metres across the Black Volta River, with a dam height of about 110 metres and a length of 470 metres.
By this agreement, GOIL, a leader in Ghana's petroleum marketing sector, will deliver to Sino Hydro Energy, fuels and other petroleum products required to ensure the efficient execution of work and the timely completion of the highly anticipated Bui Hydro-Electric Dam.
Sino Hydro Energy chose GOIL over a number of companies because, as Yang Yixin, its Executive Project Manager said at the signing, 'Ghana Oil Company's bid was the most competitive and satisfactory'.
The agreement covers pilot supplies which GOIL has successfully conducted since March this year.
'Sino Hydro Energy has been very impressed with initial supplies made by GOIL.
My company's expectations for delivery are very high and we expect GOIL to keep up with the excellent service it is currently rendering to us,' Mr Yang Yixin, Executive Project Manager declared after the brief signing ceremony.
Mr Yaw Agyemang Duah said GOIL was proud to be partnering Sino Hydro Energy in the construction of a strategic national project like the Bui Hydroelectric Dam and gave a firm assurance of a continuos provision of timely services and premium quality products for the project.
