Vice-President of the ECOWAS Commission, Anthony Oluwatosin Ogunjimi, has held discussions with the leadership of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions.
The meeting focused on reviewing their existing relationship and identifying practical ways to deepen collaboration to promote development across the West African region.
Mr Ogunjimi led a delegation, including the Commissioner for Internal Services and the Director of Budget and Treasury, to EBID's headquarters in Lomé, Togo, on November 2.
During the meeting, he outlined the Commission's priorities under the ECOWAS Vision 2050 and emphasised the need for initiatives that deliver tangible benefits to citizens across the sub-region.
He proposed collaboration in three key areas: the establishment of a regional fund supported by contributions from Community institutions, the Human Capital Development Programme and the Community Development Programme.
The proposed areas of cooperation are expected to provide a framework for strengthening institutional collaboration and advancing regional development.
