The Vice-President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission, Anthony Oluwatosin Ogunjimi, has held talks with the leadership of the African Development Bank (AfDB) to strengthen cooperation and advance development priorities in West Africa.
The meeting focused on reviewing the longstanding partnership between the two institutions and exploring ways to deepen collaboration in support of regional development.
Ogunjimi led an ECOWAS delegation to the AfDB headquarters in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, on October 12, for discussions with the Bank’s leadership, led by Abdul Kamara, Acting Vice-President for Regional Development, Integration and Business Delivery.
During the meeting, the ECOWAS Commission Vice-President outlined the Commission’s management priorities for the next four years, which are anchored in ECOWAS Vision 2050.
He stressed the need for the regional bloc to translate its plans and commitments into tangible outcomes that improve the lives of citizens across West Africa.
“Our people must see the benefits of regional integration in their everyday lives,” he said as quoted in a news release shared on Friday, October 16.
Ogunjimi also expressed appreciation to the AfDB for its longstanding partnership with ECOWAS and its financial and technical support for regional development initiatives.
The discussions form part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions and advance shared development objectives across the West African region.
