Ashgold Worsen Oly’s Woes

By Daily Graphic

Ashgold proved why they are still strong at their base, the Len Clay Stadium, and would not allow visiting clubs to beat them twice on the trot.

Having lost to Great Olympics last year at the same venue, Ashgold threw in everything to trounce Olympics 3-1.
By the 31st minute mark Oly, who recorded their first win last week to bring some hope to the struggling team, had conceded two goals.

It was slippery Shaibu Yakubu who netted the opener in the 17th minute when he controlled a pass put through by Owusu Ansah to finish off.

The goal forced the Oly technical team to pull out Edward Sosu for Francis Boadi, but that could not stop the Miners who had vowed to make nonsense of new coach Joe De Graft's assurance to transform the team.

Emmanuel Adjetey made it two for Ashgold on 31 minutes when he chested a high ball to place it past goalkeeper Ibrahim Salifu in post for Oly.

Nathaniel Quaye dribbled three players before planting the ball at the blind side of the goalkeeper to make it three for Ashgold.

Oly's Frank Nyarko scored a consolation for his side in the 77th minute but it came a little too late.
