President John Dramani Mahama has directed the identification of major roads in regional capitals across the country for improvement ahead of Ghana’s 70th Independence Anniversary celebrations in March 2027.
The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, announced the directive during the President’s tour of the Ahafo Region, assuring residents that selected roads in Goaso would see work before the anniversary.
He said the initiative forms part of the government’s plans to improve principal roads in regional capitals as the country prepares to mark 70 years of independence.
“The President has also directed that as part of the new regions and as part of our 70th anniversary, we select some roads, principal roads in the regional capitals. Goaso is the regional capital. You will see some work before the 70th anniversary, which is March next year,” he said.
However, the specific roads in Goaso earmarked for improvement and the nature of the planned works have not yet been disclosed.
