Save Nations Foundation supports Nooria Islamic Basic School with exercise books

As part of sustained efforts to promote quality education and improve teaching and learning in underserved communities, Save Nations Foundation (SNF), a non-governmental organisation, has donated exercise books to Nooria Islamic Basic School in Accra.

The intervention is aimed at ensuring that pupils have access to essential learning materials while easing the financial burden on parents and guardians as schools reopen for academic activities.

The donation also forms part of SNF’s broader educational support initiative targeted at improving learning opportunities for children and encouraging greater stakeholder participation in addressing some of the challenges confronting schools in underserved communities.

Presenting the exercise books to the management of the school, Co-Executive Founder and Country Director of Save Nations Foundation, Mr Isaac Kofi Dzokpo, said the Foundation considers education a critical tool for breaking the cycle of poverty and creating opportunities for children to realise their potential.

He said the organisation remains committed to complementing efforts by the government and other stakeholders to ensure that children, irrespective of their social or economic backgrounds, have access to the basic resources needed to pursue their education.

Mr Dzokpo explained that the decision to support Nooria Islamic Basic School followed an appeal from Madam Gladys Katu, a staff member of the school, who brought some of the needs of the pupils to the attention of the Foundation.

“Following a call from Madam Gladys Katu, a staff member of Nooria Islamic Basic School, we decided to come to the aid of the school. This is not a nine-day wonder. We promise to return and support the school in diverse ways to help enhance teaching and learning,” he stated.

According to him, inadequate access to basic educational materials can affect the ability of pupils to participate effectively in classroom activities, making interventions from civil society organisations, businesses and individuals critical to improving educational outcomes.

He therefore called on corporate organisations, philanthropists, non-governmental organisations and other stakeholders to complement the government’s efforts by investing in initiatives that expand educational opportunities for children, especially those in underserved communities.

Mr Dzokpo stressed that investment in education should be considered an investment in Ghana’s future, as providing children with the right learning environment and resources would help equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute meaningfully to national development.

He reaffirmed SNF’s commitment to expanding its educational and humanitarian interventions to reach more vulnerable children and communities.

Co-Executive Founder of Save Nations Foundation, Mr Samuel Osei, also reiterated the organisation’s commitment to building partnerships with government institutions, development partners, corporate organisations and other relevant stakeholders to address challenges affecting children and vulnerable groups.

He said sustainable development requires collective action and indicated that the Foundation would continue to implement programmes designed to improve the well-being of less-privileged people while contributing to Ghana’s development.

Mr Osei noted that partnerships between civil society, the private sector and public institutions could help mobilise additional resources and support for communities facing educational and other socio-economic challenges.

Receiving the exercise books on behalf of the school, Assistant Headteacher of Nooria Islamic Basic School, Madam Dorcas Dennis, expressed appreciation to Save Nations Foundation for responding to the needs of the pupils.

She described the intervention as timely, saying the exercise books would support pupils in their academic activities while providing some relief to parents and guardians who have to bear the cost of purchasing learning materials.

Madam Dennis said improving educational outcomes requires more than the efforts of teachers and school authorities and therefore called for increased support from individuals, philanthropists, corporate institutions and non-governmental organisations.

She particularly appealed for assistance to address the school’s infrastructure and logistical needs to help create a more conducive environment for effective teaching and learning.

Madam Dennis encouraged other organisations and individuals to emulate the gesture by Save Nations Foundation and support initiatives aimed at improving educational opportunities for children.

The donation underscores growing calls for stronger collaboration among government, civil society, the private sector and communities to address barriers to quality education and ensure that children have the resources and environment required to learn effectively.
