Cape Coast Assembly distributes streetlights, dustbins to SHSs

The Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, led by the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. George Justice Arthur, has donated streetlights and dustbins to Senior High Schools across the Cape Coast Metropolis as part of efforts to promote sanitation and improve security within school environments.

The initiative forms part of the Assembly’s broader commitment to ensuring that public spaces, including educational institutions within the metropolis, remain clean, safe and well-maintained.

Speaking to the media, Hon. George Justice Arthur explained that the distribution of dustbins is in line with the Assembly’s policy of keeping Cape Coast clean and neat. He noted that providing schools with adequate waste bins would encourage students and staff to dispose of waste properly and contribute to maintaining a cleaner school environment.

According to the MCE, the provision of streetlights is equally important, as the Assembly wants schools within the metropolis to be adequately illuminated, particularly at night. He said the initiative is intended to improve visibility and contribute to creating a safer environment for students, staff and other users of the school facilities.

Among the schools that have so far received the streetlights and dustbins are Holy Child School, Mfantsipim School, St. Augustine’s College, Adisadel College, Wesley Girls’ High School, and Ghana National College.

Aggrey Memorial Senior High School, which is located close to the Assembly’s catchment area, is also among the institutions benefiting from the initiative.

The Assembly indicated that the distribution exercise is ongoing, with other Senior High Schools within the metropolis expected to receive their streetlights and dustbins in the coming days.

The initiative reflects the Assembly’s continued focus on sanitation, environmental cleanliness and improved public infrastructure, particularly within educational institutions across the Cape Coast Metropolis.
