The Ga Mantse, His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has called on the government to introduce a dedicated quota for Ga youth under programmes of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA).

He said such a quota would create opportunities for young people in the Ga State to benefit from employment, training and skills development initiatives implemented by the agency.

The Ga Mantse made the call when he paid a courtesy visit to the YEA on Wednesday, September 16, where he was briefed by the agency’s Chief Executive Officer, Malik Basintale, on his work and achievements since assuming office.

“One thing that I will ask government is a quota for the Ga State to be able to recruit youth for training and also development, like you have done,” he said.

King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II also called for regular publication of statistics showing the number of Ga youth who have benefited from YEA programmes over the years.

He said access to such data would help the traditional authorities assess the impact of government’s youth employment and development initiatives in the Ga State.

“We want to be able to be told the statistics that this number of Ga youth have been developed over the period, and I know that he does well because recently I think a number of lists have been demanded from the traditional councils. But it's important that we are able to share the statistics and then feel comfortable about it,” the Ga Mantse said.
