The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested a 51-year-old man and his 42-year-old wife over their alleged involvement in the supply and distribution of illegal drugs in Accra.
The two suspects have been identified as Jibreel Hardi and Abiba Fatawu.
They were arrested on Thursday, September 3, 2026, during a joint intelligence-led operation conducted by NACOC officials and operatives of National Security.
Jibreel Hardi was reportedly intercepted at about 11 am at Weija in the Ga South Municipality while allegedly on his way to meet a prospective buyer.
According to information available to Graphic Online, the operation followed an extended period of intelligence gathering and surveillance by undercover operatives of NACOC’s Special Operations team.
A search of Hardi’s vehicle at the time of his arrest reportedly led to the seizure of large quantities of dried leaves wrapped in polythene, suspected to be Indian hemp (cannabis), as well as packets of Tramadol.
NACOC officials subsequently proceeded to Hardi’s residence, where they allegedly recovered additional quantities of the suspected cannabis and Tramadol.
A firearm together with 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition was also reportedly found at the residence.
Hardi’s wife, Abiba Fatawu, was arrested at the residence for allegedly acting as an accomplice and collaborator during the surveillance operation.
The two suspects are currently in the custody of NACOC and are being processed for court, while the seized exhibits are expected to undergo forensic examination.
