Man arrested for flogging two-year-old daughter after she failed to greet him

A man who flogged his two-year-old daughter with wire in Nigeria, leaving her with severe injuries and visible scars, has been arrested.

The suspect was arrested on Thursday, August 27, 2026, after the child’s mother raised an alarm and sought help from filmmaker and human rights activist Stanley Ontop.

According to the mother, the man became violent towards the toddler after morning prayers over her failure to greet properly.

She alleged that he tied the child’s hand with wire before flogging her with another wire.

Stanley Ontop intervened after the mother’s public outcry and coordinated with law enforcement, leading to the suspect’s arrest.

Police investigations into the case are ongoing.
