Joint police-military operation arrests 11 suspects at Kromase 

A joint police and military team has arrested 11 suspects, aged between 17 and 70 years, during an intelligence-led operation at Kromase, near Nkwanta in the Oti Region.

The operation, conducted on August 26, 2026, forms part of ongoing efforts by the security agencies to maintain peace and security in the Nkwanta area.

A statement issued by the Oti Regional Police Public Affairs Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr John Nchor, said the operation also led to the recovery of a black pump-action gun, 21 rounds of AAA ammunition and two BB live cartridges.

Other items recovered included brown body armour, a locally manufactured ammunition belt and a piece of police-embossed cloth.

The statement said the 11 suspects were in Police custody assisting with investigations, while the recovered exhibits had been secured for further action.

It said the police and military would continue to intensify intelligence-led operations aimed at identifying and addressing illegal possession of weapons and other security threats within the Nkwanta area.

The police further urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible and timely information to the security agencies to help safeguard the prevailing peace.

DSP Nchor reaffirmed the commitment of the security agencies to working with communities and other stakeholders to ensure peace and security in the area.
