Driver Jailed 15 Years for Stabbing and Robbing Woman at Esereso

A 24‑year‑old driver, Nana Kyei Emmanuel, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Bekwai Circuit Court after he stabbed and robbed a 22‑year‑old woman at Esereso in the Ashanti Region.

He was convicted on two counts—causing harm and robbery—after a full trial presided over by His Honour Isaac Apietu.

Prosecutor Detective Chief Inspector Eric Okyere told the court that the victim, Beatrice Achiaa Agyemang, was attacked around 2:00 a.m. on June 14, 2026.

According to the facts, the victim had stepped out to buy medication for stomach pains. While returning home near the Esereso Roman Catholic Church, Nana Kyei allegedly emerged from behind a metal container wielding a knife.

He reportedly stabbed her in the left rib area and forcibly took her iPhone 11 Pro Max, valued at GH¢2,600, before fleeing.

The victim reported the incident to the Feyiase Police, who immediately launched investigations and began tracing the stolen phone. Officers later contacted the device using another number, and the convict answered. He allegedly directed the victim to meet him at Atonsu Kuwait, claiming he would return the phone.

However, prosecutors said he demanded sexual intercourse as a condition for returning the device.

Police accompanied the victim to the meeting point, where Nana Kyei Emmanuel was arrested. A search on him uncovered the stolen iPhone and a knife believed to have been used in the attack.

He was charged and put before the Bekwai Circuit Court, where he was found guilty and sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment.
