A man has been rescued after becoming trapped inside a Kia Rio following a crash on the Accra–Kumasi Highway at Suhum Niifio in the Eastern Region.
The accident happened on Sunday, August 16, 2026, and involved the Kia Rio and a Ford F-150.
Firefighters from the Suhum Municipal Fire Station used extrication equipment to free the trapped man from the Kia Rio. He was then taken to Suhum Government Hospital for medical treatment.
Preliminary findings by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) indicate that the Ford F-150 collided with the rear of the Kia Rio while overtaking.
No deaths were recorded in the crash.
Firefighters also recovered GH¢50,000, US$5,231.81, mobile phones, National Identification cards and other personal belongings from the scene.
The GNFS said the crash appeared to have been caused by wrongful overtaking and urged motorists to exercise greater caution on the road and follow road safety regulations.
