The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed reports that it has released an official prospectus for students who recently completed the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The clarification follows the circulation of a document on social media purported to be the official prospectus for students preparing to enter senior high schools for the 2025/26 academic year.
In a statement, GES Management said the document was not authorised and urged parents, guardians and prospective senior high school students to disregard it.
“GES Management has not released prospectus for students. Kindly ignore any list of items circulating in the media,” the service stated.
The document circulating online bears the name and logo of the Ghana Education Service and contains lists of items students are allegedly required to provide, including clothing, toiletries, bedding, stationery and other personal belongings.
It also contains separate lists purportedly covering students in various programme categories and directs the purchase of some items through specific channels.
GES, however, stressed that the document should not be used by parents or students as a guide for preparing for senior high school admission.
The Service assured the public that an official prospectus would be issued through the appropriate channels once it has been finalised.
“The official and finalised prospectus shall be communicated in due time,” GES said.
