The Member of Parliament for Abetifi and former New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, Dr Bryan Acheampong, has called on members of the party to put aside their differences following the just-ended regional executive elections.
He urged both winners and unsuccessful aspirants to work together towards the party’s goal of winning the 2028 general elections.
Dr Acheampong said the conclusion of the regional elections should mark the beginning of a united effort to rebuild the party and prepare for the next election.
“To the victors, my heartfelt congratulations. May you carry your new mandates with grace, integrity, and clarity of purpose. To those who did not prevail, hold your heads high. Your contribution remains indispensable to our shared cause,” he said.
In a social media post on Monday, August 17, the former flagbearer hopeful also commended NPP members who participated in the regional elections despite what he described as demanding conditions.
Dr Acheampong said the completion of the elections should allow the party to shift its attention to preparations for the 2028 elections.
“With voting now concluded, let us all set aside the competition of the past weekend and any residual friction it may have caused. Our objective is singular and shared: preparing for victory in 2028,” he said.
The call comes as the NPP continues its internal reorganisation ahead of the 2028 general elections, following its defeat in the 2024 elections.
The party is set to finalize its reorganisation efforts with a national executive election slated for October 3.
