Ho MP commissions toilet facility for Sokode Ando

The Member of Parliament for Ho Central, Hon. Edem Richmond Kofi Kpotosu, on Saturday joined residents of Sokode Ando for the official handing-over ceremony of a newly completed EcoSan Toilet facility in the community.

The project was implemented by Humanity and Community Development Projects (HCDP Ghana) to address sanitation challenges in the area. It is expected to serve hundreds of residents who previously had limited access to decent toilet facilities.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Kpotosu described access to decent sanitation as "not a luxury, but a fundamental requirement for public health, human dignity and the development of thriving communities." He noted that poor sanitation remains a major threat to health in many peri-urban communities across the constituency.

The MP commended HCDP Ghana and all partners for the intervention, saying the project represents "a meaningful step towards improving sanitation, promoting good hygiene practices and creating a healthier environment for residents of Sokode Ando." He added that such community-driven projects complement government efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals on water and sanitation.

Hon. Kpotosu reiterated his commitment to supporting initiatives that directly improve the living conditions of constituents. "Development must not only be measured by major infrastructure," he said. "It must also be seen in the everyday facilities that protect the health, dignity and wellbeing of my people."

He charged residents to take ownership of the facility and maintain it properly. "Together, we can build a cleaner, healthier and more resilient Ho Central Constituency," the MP concluded, urging other organizations to partner with the Assembly to replicate similar projects across the constituency.
