Zoomlion assures MMDA fumigation workers of salary arrears payment

Zoomlion Ghana Limited has assured workers engaged under the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) Fumigation Project that all outstanding salary arrears will be paid once the company receives delayed funds from the government.

In a statement issued on Monday, August 3, the company acknowledged concerns raised by affected workers over delays in the payment of their salaries and said it understood the hardship the situation had caused.

Management said the delay was due to the late release of funds under the MMDA Fumigation Project and not a departure from the company’s long-standing record of meeting its financial obligations.

“Management wishes to assure all affected workers that the company fully appreciates the challenges associated with the delay and remains committed to ensuring that every legitimate outstanding payment is made as soon as the necessary funds are received,” the statement said.

According to Zoomlion, it has maintained a strong record over the past 15 years of paying employees and field operatives working on the nationwide fumigation project, describing the current situation as an exception.

The company said it has remained in continuous discussions with the Government of Ghana and the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to facilitate the release of outstanding payments under the contract.

It added that the engagements had been constructive and that it had received assurances that the necessary processes were being finalised to enable the disbursement of funds.

Zoomlion pledged to settle all salary arrears promptly once the outstanding payments are received from the government.

The company expressed appreciation to workers for their patience, understanding and dedication despite the delays, noting that their efforts had been critical in supporting public health through vector control and environmental sanitation activities across the country.

It also acknowledged the constitutional right of workers to express their concerns peacefully and appealed to them to remain calm while ongoing engagements to resolve the issue continue.

Zoomlion reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of its employees and to delivering quality environmental sanitation services in support of national development.
