Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has shut down Virgen Natural Mineral Water, a sachet water manufacturing facility at Ashongman in the Ga East Municipality, for operating without the required licence.
The closure was carried out as part of the FDA's nationwide special food facilities inspection and enforcement exercise, which is ongoing from July 14 to 24, 2026.

According to the FDA, the exercise is aimed at strengthening regulatory oversight, identifying non-compliant food establishments, and ensuring that manufacturers adhere to food safety standards.
The Authority has urged food manufacturers and operators to obtain the necessary approvals and licences before commencing operations to safeguard public health.
