A 27-year-old man, Yussif Zakari, has died after he was allegedly assaulted by a group of nine people over accusations that he stole GH¢4,800 at Sabon Zongo in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The incident is reported to have occurred in the early hours of Sunday, July 19, 2026, when Zakari and another man, Baaba Adamu, were accused of theft by the group.
According to reports, the two men were allegedly tied to a wooden pillar before being severely beaten.
Zakari reportedly succumbed to the injuries he sustained during the assault, while Baaba Adamu survived the attack and is currently receiving medical treatment.
The Ghana Police Service has arrested one suspect in connection with the incident and has launched a manhunt for the remaining eight suspects, who are currently on the run.
Police say investigations are ongoing.
