The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested five persons suspected of belonging to a criminal syndicate involved in armed robbery and landguard activities at Sapeiman Faase in the Greater Accra Region.
The arrests were made on Friday, July 17, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation conducted jointly by the Accra Regional Police Command and the National Police Intelligence Directorate (NPID).
In a statement issued on Monday, July 20, the Police identified the suspects as Torgbui Agah Semaglo, 50, Shadrach Agah Semaglo, 22, William Kweku Sedanu, 21, Cyril Kassenu, 26, and Kingsford Agah Semaglo, 18.
According to the Police, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are allegedly linked to a criminal network operating within Sapeiman and surrounding communities, where they are believed to have engaged in armed robbery and landguard activities.
A search conducted at premises associated with the suspects led to the recovery of a pump-action gun, a Stoeger ST-R9 pistol, a dummy Austria pistol, a jackknife, a face mask, 12 BB cartridges, three rounds of 9mm ammunition, one AK-47 round, a talisman, and two kitchen knives.
The Police said the weapons and other items are suspected to have been used to intimidate and terrorise residents in the area.
“All retrieved items have been secured as exhibits for evidential purposes,” the statement said.
The five suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations, while authorities work to determine their possible involvement in other robbery incidents and related criminal activities.
The Accra Regional Police Command also said efforts are underway to identify and arrest other individuals who may be connected to the suspected criminal group.
The Command commended members of the public for providing information that aided the operation and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the Police emergency lines.
The Police further assured residents of their commitment to maintaining peace, law and order across the Greater Accra Region.
