The Principal of High Lady Beautician School in Goaso, Ms. Dorothy Bonsu, has urged young people to pursue vocational and entrepreneurial education as a practical route to self-employment and economic independence.

Speaking to the media at the school's campus in Goaso, Ms. Bonsu announced the commencement of admissions for a new batch of students into the institution's beauty and cosmetology programmes.

She said Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) has become an essential tool in tackling youth unemployment by equipping learners with practical, industry-relevant skills that can be transformed into viable businesses and long-term careers.

According to her, High Lady Beautician School offers professional training in wig making, hairdressing, makeup artistry, hair braiding, nail technology and other beauty-related disciplines through a curriculum that blends classroom instruction with intensive practical training.

Ms. Bonsu explained that beyond developing technical competence, the school is committed to nurturing entrepreneurship and innovation, enabling graduates to establish their own businesses and contribute meaningfully to the country's economic development.

"The beauty industry continues to create enormous opportunities for young people. I want to encourage the youth to embrace vocational education because it equips them with practical skills that can lead to self-employment and financial independence. Rather than waiting for limited white-collar jobs, they should take advantage of opportunities in the TVET sector to build sustainable careers and even create jobs for others," she said.

She added that graduates receive certificates accredited by the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI), giving them nationally recognised qualifications that enhance their employability both within Ghana and internationally.

Also speaking at the event, Ms. Christiana Bossman, an Examiner with the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) in Sunyani, encouraged prospective students to enrol in accredited vocational institutions that adhere to national training standards.

She described TVET as one of the most effective means of addressing unemployment while equipping young people with practical skills demanded by industry.

"Vocational education is no longer an alternative; it is a necessity. Young people who acquire certified skills stand a better chance of becoming entrepreneurs or securing meaningful employment. We encourage prospective students to take advantage of accredited institutions that provide quality training and nationally recognised certification," she stated.

Ms. Bossman commended High Lady Beautician School for its commitment to quality practical training and expressed confidence that institutions offering accredited vocational education would continue to play a vital role in Ghana's socio-economic transformation.

Located off Atta Mills Road in Goaso, the capital of the Ahafo Region, High Lady Beautician School provides professional training in beauty and cosmetology, including hair care, skincare, makeup artistry, nail technology and related fields.

The school's management said the current admission exercise is aimed at expanding access to vocational education and equipping more young people with employable and entrepreneurial skills to meet the growing demand within the beauty industry.
