The Ga Traditional Council, in partnership with the Okintin Klan, has announced the 2026 edition of the annual Ga Homowo Health Walk, scheduled for August 1, 2026. This year’s event is expected to draw more than 5,000 participants from across the Ga Mashie communities as part of activities leading up to the Homowo Festival.
Addressing the media, Nuumo Nikoi Amasah II, Klan Wulomo of the Okintin Klan, expressed profound gratitude to the Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, for his unwavering support and leadership.
“We are deeply grateful to the Ga Mantse for his fatherly leadership and unwavering support. His backing has given this event the recognition it truly deserves,” he said.
He noted that the Homowo Health Walk continues to receive strong endorsement from the Ga Traditional Council. He also acknowledged the contribution of corporate partners, highlighting the role of Bills Microfinance, which has supported the initiative over the past year.
“Bills Microfinance has been a consistent partner. Their support has helped us expand the reach of the walk and promote wellness across Ga Mashie,” he added.
Nuumo Nikoi Amasah II encouraged Ghanaians and traditional leaders nationwide to join the walk, emphasizing its importance beyond cultural celebration.
“This walk is more than tradition. It is about health, unity, and setting an example for the next generation. I encourage every Ghanaian to join us,” he urged.
The Ga Traditional Council has outlined comprehensive security measures and logistical guidelines to ensure a smooth and successful event. The walk will begin at Mantse Agbonaa in Jamestown, proceed through selected principal streets, and climax at Bannerman Road PZ with musical performances, a food bazaar, and free health screening services.
