The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has appealed for swift humanitarian support for victims of the June 29 floods, stressing that many affected residents are struggling to access basic necessities.
After visiting one of the impacted communities, Dr Bawumia said numerous families had lost essential items and were in urgent need of food, clothing and bedding.
“People need food, people don’t have clothes, people don’t have mattresses. Let us make sure that we come immediately to their aid,” he said.
He called on individuals, organisations and corporate bodies to support ongoing relief efforts, emphasising that collective action was needed to ease the suffering of victims.
“Everybody should do something. Myself, I will try and help in the small way I can with some of these relief items,” he added.
Dr Bawumia noted that while longer-term solutions are required to address the country’s recurring flooding challenges, immediate assistance remains critical to support displaced families and restore basic living conditions.
