The Eastern Regional Police Command has arrested a man in connection with the robbery, assault and rape of a woman at Okorase Junction 3 in Koforidua.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, June 30, the Police identified the suspect as Isaac Anim, saying he was arrested following intelligence led investigations into the incident, which was reported on June 15, 2026.
According to the Police, the suspect allegedly robbed the victim of an iPhone 11, $200 and a pack of food before sexually assaulting her and fleeing the scene.
“The suspect is reported to have robbed the victim of an iPhone 11, the sum of Two Hundred United States Dollars ($200.00), and a pack of food. The suspect subsequently sexually assaulted the victim before fleeing the scene,” the statement said.
Investigators from the Regional Police Intelligence Department (RPID) tracked the suspect to his hideout at Awukugwa near Adukrom, where he was arrested on Friday, June 26.
Police said a search conducted after his arrest led to the recovery of the victim's mobile phone. Investigators further established that the suspect allegedly used the phone together with the victim's SIM card to fraudulently withdraw money from a mobile money vendor.
The suspect has since been handed over to the Eastern Regional Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) to assist with ongoing investigations.
The Police also disclosed that Isaac Anim is being linked to six other criminal cases involving robbery, rape and the alleged defilement of a 10-year-old girl at Okorase.
“The Eastern Regional Police Command remains resolute in its commitment to protecting the lives and property of all citizens,” the statement added.
