A 26-year-old private legal practitioner, Sara Araba Tettey, has died after reportedly suffering a cardiac arrest while celebrating Ghana’s victory over Panama on Wednesday.
Ms. Tettey, a KNUST Law Faculty alumnus who was called to the Ghana Bar earlier this year and worked with O & A Legal Consult, was watching the match with friends at Standard Hostel, a private hostel located at Bomso near the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), when the incident occurred.
According to persons who were with her, she suddenly collapsed during the jubilations that followed Ghana’s victory. She was immediately rushed to the KNUST Hospital, popularly known as Tech Hospital, where medical personnel reportedly administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for about 45 minutes. However, she was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
The tragic news has sent shockwaves through the legal fraternity, particularly among members of the KNUST law community and colleagues from the Ghana School of Law, many of whom knew her personally.
Affectionately known as Araba Tettey, the young lawyer was widely admired by friends and colleagues. Her untimely passing has left many mourning what they describe as the loss of a promising legal mind.
Her body has since been deposited at the KNUST Medical School mortuary pending further arrangements.
The circumstances surrounding her death are yet to be officially communicated by her family and medical authorities.
