The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has attributed the power outage affecting several communities in the Western Region to an upstream challenge.
The disruption has left residents and businesses in parts of the regional capital, Sekondi-Takoradi and surrounding communities without electricity.
"The Electricity Company of Ghana, Western Region, wishes to inform its cherished customers and the general public in the underlisted areas that the outage being experienced is as a result of an upstream challenge," ECG said in a statement issued on Thursday, June 18.
The affected areas include Diabene, Nkroful, Kansawurodu, Ntankorful, Mt Zion, Anaji, East Tanokrom, TTI, Effiakuma, Effia, SSNIT Flats, Adiembra, Kweikuma, Essaman, Nkontonpo, parts of Beach Road, Fijai, Ahenkofikrom, Kojokrom, Beahu, Ewusiejoe, Aboadze, Ahanta, Mpintsin, Sofokrom and nearby communities.
ECG assured customers that technical teams are on standby to address the challenge and restore electricity supply as quickly as possible.
"ECG wishes to assure affected customers that our Engineers are standing by to restore supply as soon as the challenge is rectified," the statement added.
The power distribution company also apologised to customers for the inconvenience caused by the outage.
