A majority of Ghanaian voters believe it is time for younger leaders to take charge of the country, according to a new nationwide survey conducted by Global InfoAnalytics.
The poll shows that 56% of respondents support the idea of younger people leading Ghana, while 26% are opposed. A further 19% said they had no opinion on the issue.
The findings point to a growing demand for generational change in Ghana’s political leadership, with younger voters emerging as the strongest advocates for a shift toward younger leadership in government.
The survey also indicates that support for younger leadership is widespread across most regions of the country, with several areas recording clear majorities in favour of the idea.
The highest level of support was recorded in the Savannah Region at 89%, followed by the Upper West Region at 82% and the Western Region at 79%. Other regions where a majority of respondents supported younger leadership include the Northern Region at 63%, Bono East at 61%, North East at 60%, Eastern Region at 59%, Volta Region at 56%, Oti Region at 53%, and Greater Accra Region at 54%.
In the Central Region, 47% supported the idea while 44% were opposed, while in the Upper East Region, 44% were in favour.
However, the survey also revealed pockets of resistance in some parts of the country.
In the Ashanti Region, 51% of respondents opposed the idea of younger people leading Ghana, while 38% expressed support. The Bono Region also recorded more opposition than support, with 44% against and 32% in favour.
Similarly, in the Western North Region, half of respondents, representing 50%, disagreed with the idea, while 33% supported it.
