The Electricity Company of Ghana has announced a series of planned power interruptions affecting several communities within the Teshie Nungua enclave as it undertakes a major upgrade at the Teshie Nungua Primary Substation.

The maintenance exercise, scheduled from Monday, April 27 to Thursday, April 30, 2026, will involve phased outages across parts of Teshie, Nungua, and surrounding areas.

Communities expected to experience interruptions include Grada Estates, Century Road, Teshie Zongo, Tsui Bleoo, Abolebu, Okpoi Gonno, Agblezaa, Manet Court Estates, Crescent Estates, and parts of Nungua.

Other affected locations are the Teshie Cluster of Schools, Teshie Police Station, LEKMA Hospital enclave, Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly area, Teshie Roman School, Manwuase, Maami Beach, Teshie Cemetery, and the International China Mall vicinity.

ECG explained that the outages will be implemented in groups labelled A to E, with each group experiencing power cuts lasting between five and six hours depending on the phase of work.

On April 27, interruptions will run in phases starting from 9:00 a.m. through to midnight, affecting different zones at different times.

On April 28, the exercise will continue in a 24 hour cycle, with outages scheduled from midnight to 6:00 a.m., 6:00 a.m. to midday, midday to 6:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. to midnight across different communities.

Additional rotations are expected on April 29 and April 30 as engineers complete installation works.

The project involves replacing an existing 20/26 MVA transformer with a higher capacity 30/39 MVA unit at the substation.

According to ECG, the upgrade is intended to improve power supply capacity, reduce system overloads and equipment failures, and enhance voltage stability across the enclave.

While acknowledging the inconvenience the planned outages may cause, ECG stressed that the project is necessary to improve long term reliability of electricity supply.

Customers in the affected areas have been urged to plan ahead and follow the published schedule. The company also indicated that further updates will be communicated through its official channels.
