The Member of Parliament for Akuapem North Constituency, Hon. Sammi Awuku, stated on Monday, April 20, 2026, that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia had a private meeting with his fellow Flagbearer aspirants.

He disclosed this during a radio interview on Peace FM's morning show, discussing the way forward for the NPP after a successful Flagbearer contest.

This revelation caught the attention of many Party patriots who were expecting such a move towards Party unity and cohesion ahead of the 2028 election.

The spokesperson for Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, who was in the contest, corroborated that such a strategic meeting had happened with the two stalwarts of the Party.

Similarly, Mr. Pious Enam Hadzide, who was also the spokesperson for Hon. Dr. Bryan Acheampong's campaign team, confirmed that a meeting of that nature was held to foster unity and cohesion.

In all the above-mentioned revelations and confirmations about the private meeting Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia had with them, what struck me is the bold move to engage and discuss the way forward for the Party.

In fact, the ultimate goal and objective of every loyal Party member is to see the Party unite solidly behind the elected Flagbearer moving into the crucial 2028 election.

To state without any iota of doubt, NPP stands the chance of capturing power once unity, harmony, and peaceful coexistence among members are prioritized.

Indeed, what transpired in the 2024 election should be a guide for us to embrace unity and teamwork as the basis to regain the confidence of Ghanaians.

Having examined the personal attributes of our quintessential Flagbearer, it is evident that he possesses a good team spirit and humility in the discharge of his duties.

Based on his exceptional personal attributes and valuable leadership qualities, I was not surprised by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's laudable decision.

Furthermore, the acceptance of his fellow Flagbearer aspirants, who have also demonstrated their readiness to work with him to achieve victory, makes this development particularly welcome.

Despite the Party's ongoing reorganization and rebuilding process, we cannot attain our ultimate goal without prioritizing unity, collaboration, and teamwork.

It is imperative that we, as Party members across the Country, commend our leaders for this strategic and inspiring move to work together as a team.

Emulating this approach, we must put the past differences aside and work collectively towards victory to reignite and reinvigorate the spirit of the Elephant fraternity.

Given these factors, I firmly believe that our Party can recapture power if we, at the grassroots level, forgive one another and work in unison with a common objective.

Undoubtedly, Party unity and cohesion play a crucial role, particularly with respect to leadership and the execution of individual political duties.

As we move forward to the polling station executives' contest, prioritizing unity at the base of the Party is also essential and paramount.

It is also incumbent upon us to uphold the core values and ideals of our Party, anchored on fairness and transparency devoid of selectivity and bias.

Notwithstanding our Party's current challenges following the 2024 election, the private engagement between our Flagbearer and his fellow aspirants is a prudent approach.

In conclusion, I reiterate that we have a Party to rebuild, reorganize, and mobilize towards 2028, and every strategic move by our Flagbearer must be commended and supported.

Long live NPP!
