SAT, 18 APR 2026

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has clarified that the appointment of celebrated Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame as an ambassador for the Feed Ghana initiative is entirely voluntary and not tied to any form of state remuneration.

In a statement issued by the Ministry, officials copied to Journalist Andre Mustapha Nii Okai Inusah, explained that the artiste personally offered to support the government’s flagship agricultural campaign by leveraging his public influence to promote its objectives and highlight success stories.

According to the Ministry, Okyeame Kwame’s involvement is driven by patriotism and a shared commitment to national development, rather than any financial arrangement with the state.

The statement further emphasized that under the leadership of the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, no public funds have been allocated toward the engagement. It stressed that there is no salary, allowance, or financial package attached to the ambassadorial role.

The Ministry welcomed the move, describing it as an example of the kind of voluntary partnerships needed to advance the goals of the Feed Ghana programme. It encouraged other well-meaning Ghanaians and stakeholders to contribute their expertise and platforms to support national initiatives.

The clarification, signed by Media Liaison Officer Samuel Huntor, comes amid public interest in the nature of the appointment and the broader involvement of public figures in government campaigns.
