Concerned teachers and parents of basic schools in the Anloga District have petitioned President John Dramani Mahama, calling for urgent intervention over alleged bullying and administrative mismanagement within the district’s education directorate.

In the petition, the group accuses the District Director of actions they say contravene established administrative procedures and breach the Teachers Code of Conduct. The allegations include the Director’s alleged decision to personally oversee the setting of end of term examinations, mismanagement of examination charges, and intimidation of teachers who question or decline to comply with certain directives.

The petition, signed by 7 representatives, outlines 13 concerns. These include the alleged mishandling of terminal examination fees, the engagement of external service providers to set what the petitioners describe as non standard examination questions, and the intimidation of head teachers and classroom teachers. It also cites alleged punitive transfers and salary embargoes imposed on some staff members.

The petitioners reject the Directorate’s justification for its actions, arguing that any concerns about examination standards could be addressed through professional development workshops and strengthened Professional Learning Communities rather than removing teachers from their statutory responsibilities.

According to the petition, the alleged practices have contributed to poor learner performance, low teacher morale, and what the group describes as a growing culture of accepting zero or very low scores as normal.

The petitioners are demanding an immediate independent and impartial investigation into the conduct of the District Director. They are also calling on the President to ensure protection and support for affected teachers and head teachers and to restore transparency, fairness and accountability in the Anloga District.

The petition, addressed to the President, was presented to the District Chief Executive of Anloga after a peaceful demonstration held in the district. The petitioners expressed confidence that the matter will receive urgent attention and appealed for swift action to safeguard the integrity of basic education in Anloga.

Speaking in an interview on Swiss FM’s Morning Show in Ho on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, a teacher and convener, Mr Albert Amaglo, said that although the demonstration was successful, some teachers were unable to participate. He alleged that the Director attempted to frustrate the protest by directing officers to supervise teaching and learning in schools, a move he claimed prevented some teachers from joining the walk.

Mr Amaglo said the situation reflects ongoing tensions between teachers and the District Director, which he believes require immediate intervention to prevent further disruption to teaching and learning in the district.
