All roads in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, will lead to the Manhyia Palace, the official seat of His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, today Monday.
The Asanteman Traditional Council, which is the biggest assembly of traditional leaders in the country, is meeting in the palace at the instance of the 16th Asante monarch.
According to reports making the rounds in Kumasi, Otumfuo has a very important message to convey to the members of the Council, therefore the impromptu meeting this morning.
“I am directed by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, to invite Nananom for a meeting of the Council scheduled as follows,” part of a press release from Manhyia Palace said.
It also said, “Nananom are expected to attend without fail as attendance is MANDATORY,” adding that, Manhyia Palace is the venue and starting time is 10am prompt.
The press statement, which was authored by Kwame Adusei Agyeman, the Registrar, Kumasi Traditional Council (KTC), however, did not state the exact agenda for the meeting.
The release also indicated that aside the members of the Asanteman Traditional Council, all heads of KTC are also expected to be present at the important meeting today.
Significantly, the Asanteman Traditional Council with Otumfuo as the supreme leader, is made up of about 70 prominent paramount chiefs, drawn from about six regions in the country.
