Ghana is set to host the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Regional Committee for Africa after signing an agreement with the organization.

The agreement paves the way for a regional meeting from September 2–4, 2025, where member countries will collaborate on solar energy programs, share technical knowledge, and secure financial and policy support for Africa’s solar transition.

The signing ceremony took place in Accra, with key officials from ISA and the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition in attendance.

The Energy Minister, John Abdulai Jinapor, welcomed the decision, highlighting the country’s push for clean energy and lower carbon emissions.

"Ghana’s role as host and Regional Vice President reflects our commitment to renewable energy. President Mahama’s green transition agenda includes policy reforms and infrastructure investments to support solar development,” he noted.

He stated that Ghana, a founding ISA member, has shown strong dedication to renewable energy and sustainable development.

“Hosting the regional committee will help drive innovation, attract investment, and speed up solar technology adoption across Africa,” he added.

On his part, ISA’s Chief Operations Officer, Wycliffe Joshua, commended Ghana’s leadership and renewable energy initiatives.

He said, “We appreciate Ghana for hosting this important meeting, which will help evaluate progress and strengthen partnerships for solar energy growth. Ghana’s Renewable Energy Authority and plans for a Green Energy Investment Fund set an example for the continent.”

The ISA is a global coalition that works to address climate change through solar energy cooperation. With Ghana as host, Africa is set to advance in solar adoption and energy transformation.
