President John Dramani Mahama is expected to cut sod for the construction of a new Accra Convention Centre in the coming weeks.
The facility, which is an investment by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), will be located at the Trade Fair Centre in Accra.
It is expected to cover 81,422 square metres and will include a 3,000-seater main conference hall, a Presidential Hall and four large auditoriums.
The Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, announced this in a social media post on Wednesday, October 7.
“President Mahama will in the coming weeks cut sod for the Accra Convention Centre – the latest investment by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT),” he said.
According to Kwakye Ofosu, the project will also include other modern amenities designed to support conferences and high-level meetings.
“The 81,422 square metre facility to be located at the Trade Fair Centre, will have a 3000-seater main conference hall, a Presidential Hall for High-level meetings, four large auditoriums and other modern amenities,” his post added.
The project is expected to add to Ghana’s infrastructure for hosting major local and international conferences and other high-level events.
