The Ghana Police Service has arrested two men in connection with the brutal killing of 58-year-old Lebanese national Omar Mikati, who was discovered dead in his East Legon home on Friday, June 20, 2025.
According to a police statement, officers from the Crime Scene Management Unit (CSMU) responded to a distress call and found the victim lying in a pool of blood inside his residence. Investigators collected critical forensic evidence at the scene as part of an intensive probe into the murder.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the attackers fled with the victim’s Samsung mobile phone, curiously leaving behind two iPhones and a GCB ATM card bearing the name Paul Twumasi Ankrah.
This clue proved pivotal. Acting on the discovery, police tracked down and arrested Paul Twumasi Ankrah at Samsam Medie. During questioning, Ankrah identified his alleged accomplice as Asiedu Henning, also known as Nana Kofi Anum.
Henning was arrested during a July 2, 2025, intelligence-led raid at his hideout in Kutunse. During subsequent interrogation, he led officers to a location where the weapon believed to have been used in the murder—a knife—had been discarded. The weapon has since been retrieved and is undergoing forensic analysis.
Both suspects have appeared before the Adabraka District Court 1 and were remanded into police custody. They are scheduled to reappear in court on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.
The Ghana Police Service says it remains committed to uncovering the full details behind the killing and bringing all those involved to justice.
