Former Managing Director of Ghana Post, Bice Osei Kuffour, popularly known as Obour, has defended his tenure at the state-owned postal service, stating that he left the organization in a strong and healthy position.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen monitored by MyNewsgh, Obour said, “I left Ghana Post at its highest level. It was a healthy organization, and it requires continuity with the right skills to keep moving forward.”
He acknowledged the financial challenges he inherited upon assuming office but emphasized that efforts were made to address them.
“When I took over as the MD, there was a legacy debt, and we worked hard to clear some of those arrears,” he noted.
Obour also highlighted his administration’s commitment to staff welfare, particularly in promotions.
“Some employees had been at Ghana Post for 15 to 18 years, so we promoted many of them in 2023 to recognize their long service. We also promoted people who had served 10 and 5 years,” he explained.
Earlier in March, Obuor announced his resignation from the position of Managing Director at Ghana Post Limited.
An extract of a post he shared on Facebook to announce his resignation read:
“I assumed office as Managing Director of Ghana Post on January 4th, 2022, and it has been an honour and a privilege to serve in this role, steering Ghana Post through a transformative phase aimed at repositioning it as a modern, efficient, and customer-centric postal services and logistics provider.
“Under my leadership, the company has made significant strides in digitalization, operational efficiency, brand awareness and financial sustainability.”
He expressed his appreciation to former President Nana Akufo-Addo for the opportunity to serve in that capacity. “I am deeply grateful to H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the opportunity to serve my country in such a high capacity.
“As I resign from this position to pursue other interests, I wish to express my utmost appreciation to Hon. Ursula Owusu who was my sector minister, the Board of Directors and the hardworking Management and staff of Ghana Post whose dedication and commitment have been instrumental in the progress we have made,” he further indicated.
