The Ahafo Region proudly celebrated this year’s International Women’s Day with a strong focus on addressing water challenges within the region.
Under the leadership of the Ahafo Regional Minister, Hon. Charity Gardiner, the event highlighted the vital role of water in ensuring hygiene, health, and overall community well-being.
With the theme "Water is Life" (NSUO NE NKWA), Hon. Charity Gardiner emphasized the importance of clean and accessible water in daily life. Recognizing the difficulties many communities encounter in accessing potable water, her office, in collaboration with Necentric Campaigns, launched the NSUO NE NKWA project. This initiative aims to construct new water infrastructure and repair existing faulty water systems throughout the region.
The minister stated that the NSUO NE NKWA project represents a significant step towards improving the quality of life for residents of Ahafo. By facilitating access to clean water, the project aligns with global efforts to enhance Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) standards. “It’s WASH time—Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene for a healthier Ahafo,” she declared.
The expected impact of the initiative is extensive, alleviating the burden of water scarcity and promoting better health outcomes for communities. Through this initiative, Hon. Charity Gardiner continues to demonstrate strong leadership and a commitment to sustainable development in Ahafo. Thus, the celebration of International Women’s Day not only served to recognize the achievements of women but also provided a platform to drive meaningful change in the region.
