Committee tasked to review Adamus Resources Limited licence revocation petition presents report to Lands Minister

The Petition Review Committee set up to investigate the revocation of Adamus Resources Limited’s mining leases in Ghana has reportedly submitted its report to the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah.

The Ministry is yet to officially announce receipt of the report or disclose its recommendations.

The committee was inaugurated by Mr. Armah-Kofi Buah following a petition by Adamus Resources Limited, which challenged the government’s decision to revoke the company’s mining leases and all legal licenses.

The minister tasked the committee with conducting an independent review of the petition and presenting recommendations after examining all the issues raised by the company.

The committee was chaired by Jerry Samuel Yaw Kuma and was initially given between two and three weeks to complete its work and submit a report.

Its work focused on the circumstances surrounding the revocation of mining leases covering the Nkroful, Akango and Salman concessions in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.

Government revoked the leases after investigations reportedly uncovered several breaches of Ghana’s mining laws and regulations.

Among the allegations cited were claims that portions of the concessions had been ceded to foreign nationals without the required approval of the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources.

The government further alleged that Adamus Resources’ concession areas had become sites of repeated infractions in contravention of Ghana’s mining laws.

The decision to revoke the leases generated widespread public interest, with industry players and stakeholders closely monitoring developments because of the potential implications for Ghana’s mining sector and investor confidence.

Adamus Resources Limited subsequently petitioned the Ministry, maintaining that its concerns deserved an impartial review and asking that the revocation decision be reconsidered.

The establishment of the Petition Review Committee formed part of the Ministry’s effort to ensure due process and provide an independent assessment of the issues raised in the petition.

Industry players are now awaiting the Minister’s official announcement on the committee’s findings and recommendations.

The Ministry is expected to communicate its next course of action, as stakeholders closely monitor the outcome of a decision that could have significant implications for Ghana’s mining sector and investor confidence.
