The Minority in Parliament has rejected assertions that the Akufo-Addo administration had implemented a betting tax before its recent abolition in the 2025 Budget.
Their response follows an announcement by Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson during the budget presentation on Tuesday, March 11, in which he declared the removal of several taxes, including the Betting Tax, E-Levy, and COVID-19 Levy.
At a press conference, former Finance Minister Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam disputed the claim, insisting that the previous government had never enforced the betting tax.
“The betting tax they said they have abolished, we never collected betting tax. We never implemented the betting tax,” he pointed out.
Dr. Adam accused the government of misleading the public by claiming credit for scrapping a tax that was never in effect.
“So to come and tell Ghanaians that you have abolished something that was not implemented, it to deceive the people of Ghana,” he emphasised.

Fasting confusing hit Amin Adam, All those who bet and won and were taxed under the previous administration should sue the then finance minister for their monies because the person who was handling our purse said these monies were never collected to the state coffers and that never even implemented the tax yet records are there that they have collected betting tax so where did the money go.
