Nana Freduah Agyeman Osborn to head YAWC Network Legal Affairs Directorate, named a Global Governing Council Member

Astute legal practitioner, Nana Freduah Agyeman Osborn Esq. has been named a member of the Global Governing Council of the Young African Women Congress (YAWC) Network.

He will also be serving as the Director for the Network’s Legal Affairs Directorate, following his appointment by the Founder and Executive Chairperson of the Network, Mr. Daniel Osei Tuffuor.

His appointments, which are for a period of two years, renewable after completion of a tenure, come as part of a number of appointments by the Network to select leaders to help advance its objectives for the foreseeable future.

Mr. Freduah Agyeman is therefore expected to bring to bear his unique experience and expertise in legal matters to help the cause of the Network in its mandate as a hub for the grooming, training and mentoring of young African ladies at home and abroad.

Responsibilities
In his role as the Director for Legal Affairs of the Network, Mr. Osborn will be overseeing the organization’s legal activities, providing strategic legal advice, and managing the legal department where he will be expected to develop and implement legal strategies that align with the Network’s business objectives and risk tolerance.

He will also be expected to identify and mitigate potential legal risks across all aspects of the Network’s operations; oversee and manage compliance audits, and resolve legal compliance issues promptly; and review, draft, and negotiate complex contracts including partnerships, vendor agreements, client contracts, and employment agreements, ensuring that contracts reflect the company’s best interests and minimize legal risks.

As a member of the Network’s Governing Council, Mr. Freduah Agyeman is expected to contribute to the development and implementation of the organization's short term, medium term, and long-term strategic plans; analyse impact trends and industry developments to inform strategic decision-making; ensure the Network’s adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards; as well as provide guidance and direction for the mobilization of resources for the Network.

Profile
Nana Freduah Agyeman Osborn is the Chief Legal Officer of ExLA Group, and is currently the Managing Attorney for Osborns Legal PRUC, a law firm he founded. He is currently the External solicitor for the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) as well as a number of other local and international organizations.

He is also the Executive Secretary of Osborns Legal Protendo, a non-governmental and non-profit organization created with the main purpose of enlightening the predominantly large illiterate members of society and even the literate ones on the basic laws that govern us as a people.

He previously worked as a Researcher with the Constitution Review Commission, a body which was set up by the Ghanaian government in recent times to review the country’s 1992 constitution.

Between August 2009 and June 2010, he worked at the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative as one of the organisation’s prolific minds at the Africa office in Accra where he was instrumental in the creation of Justice Centres in Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

He also played a key role in the promotion of the Right to Information (RTI) Bill.

He attended the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Faculty of Law; and later entered the Ghana School of Law where he qualified as a Barrister–at–Law and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana in the year 2012.

He then pursued an Advanced Human Rights Course in International Human Rights with the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
