Sixty-one individuals trained in pepper farming and soap making in selected communities within the Dormaa East District have received a total of GHS 193,950 in cash grants along with access to a mini market to support their business ventures.
The initiative, which took place on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, aims to provide beneficiaries with immediate resources to kickstart their enterprises.
Each participant received a startup grant to purchase essential logistics for their chosen trade at the mini market, which was set up alongside the cash disbursement. Of the beneficiaries, 44 were trained in pepper farming, each receiving GHS 3,330, while 17 individuals trained in soap making were granted GHS 2,790 each.
Before receiving their grants, the beneficiaries underwent training in life skills, business management, and coaching. This preparatory phase was designed to equip them with the knowledge and strategies needed to sustain and grow their businesses successfully.
The event was organized by the Dormaa East District Assembly and funded by the Ghana Productive Safety Net Project (GPSNP). As part of the GPSNP’s Productive Inclusion (PI) initiative, the program seeks to improve the livelihoods of poor and vulnerable households by increasing access to income-generating opportunities in selected communities within the district.
